Lesson 6 - Animals Building Homes
In this non-fiction, informative text students learn about how and why different animals build their homes. Have your daughter read the text in the eBook (or printed), or listen and follow along as the text is read aloud. Comprehension and Vocabulary worksheets are attached. Try the Scavenger Hunt Activity to find animal homes near your house. Additionally, try a STEM activity and build a home for your "animal" using household items or toys. Don't forget to send in a picture of your child's creation. STEM activities involve Science, Technology, Engineering and Math mixed into a hands-on fun learning activity; fostering an interest those topics.
Animal STEM Activities
Challenge your children to create a structure/cage to keep an animal safe in. Sounds simple enough. Here’s the hard part, only use the materials provided: popsicle sticks, wooden blocks, Lincoln Logs, paper, tape, clothes pins (or whatever you have on hand) and the animal (picture, plastic figure or stuffed animal) must fit inside the home.
